MapleWeld

MapleWeld is our own line of welding gear, chosen and specified for Canadian shops and job sites - gloves, auto-darkening helmets, the Blue Arc PAPR, brazing alloys, bronze rods and engine-driven welders.

Gloves by process

  • TIG gloves - MW100, MW200, MW300 and MW600 in sheepskin and goatskin, thin enough to feel the filler rod.
  • Stick and MIG gloves - MW800 Kevlar-stitched cowhide and MW900 split leather for heat and spatter.
  • Work gloves - MW1100 to MW2100 for handling, fit-up and general shop work.

A glove that is too thick for TIG ruins control; a glove too thin for stick burns through in a shift. See TIG gloves and stick and MIG gloves.

Choosing an auto-darkening helmet

Compare viewing area, number of arc sensors, shade range and switching speed. Four sensors track the arc better on pipe and out-of-position work, where a sensor can be blocked. A shade range of 9 to 13 covers stick, MIG and most TIG. For welders who need fume protection - or who have a beard - the Blue Arc PAPR supplies filtered air inside the helmet.

Brazing alloys

BCuP-5 15% silver rods for copper refrigeration and HVAC joints, cadmium-free BAg-5 45% silver wire for steel, brass and dissimilar metals, and silicon bronze and low-fuming bronze rods. See copper brazing.
