Markal
Markal industrial markers and heat-control products - Paintstik solid paint markers, Tempilstik temperature indicating sticks and Anti-Heat heat absorbing compound.
Paintstik: marks that survive the shop
Solid paint markers write on rusty, oily, wet and cold steel where a felt marker or soapstone fails. The mark stays readable through handling, weather and storage, which is why they are used for heat numbers, cut lines and part identification.
Tempilstik: know the temperature, do not guess it
A Tempilstik melts at its rated temperature. Stroke it on the part: if it leaves a dry chalky mark, the metal is below the rating; if it melts to a liquid streak, the metal has reached it. Use them to confirm:
- Preheat on thick sections, high-carbon steels and cast iron, to prevent cracking.
- Interpass temperature limits on stainless and quenched-and-tempered steels.
Use two sticks to bracket a range - one at the minimum, one at the maximum.
Anti-Heat compound
Packed around a weld or braze joint, Anti-Heat absorbs heat and keeps it from travelling into nearby parts - valve seats, gaskets, paint, wiring, heat-treated areas. It is faster and cleaner than wet rags.
