Each 1lb sleeve of 1/8" (3.2mm) contains approx. 12-14 stick welding rods (Length 14”) For Multilayer hard facing. The air hardening deposit of MapleWeld HF27 is resistant to abrasion and impact. Many layers can be built up without cracking. The wear resistance is much better than ordinary martensitic electrodes of the chromium - carbon type. Can be used at elevated temperature applications up to 550°C (1020°F). Easily weldable in all positions. For soil abrasion applications (bucket edges, sand pump casings, bulldozer teeth) and metal shears, tamping dies, mixer blades, ripper teeth, crusher jaws. Use AC, DC Reverse Polarity. Electrode position: almost vertical to the workpiece. Use a very short arc and keep the amperage as low as possible, to avoid too much dilution with the base material. To obtain the maximum hardness on mild steel, apply at least 3 layers.
