Cantesco
Cantesco anti-spatter aerosol sprays in solvent-based and water-based formulas, 16 oz cans.
Why anti-spatter pays for itself
Spatter that welds itself to the part has to be ground off. That is labour, and on a visible surface it is rework. A light film of anti-spatter on the plate either side of the joint, and on fixtures and clamps, stops spatter from bonding so it brushes or wipes away.
Solvent-based or water-based
- Solvent-based - flashes off quickly and leaves a dry film, so you can weld almost immediately. It is flammable: let it dry fully before striking an arc.
- Water-based - non-flammable, lower odour and easier on enclosed shops. It takes slightly longer to dry before welding.
Check before you paint or powder coat
Any residue left on the part can interfere with paint, powder coating or galvanizing. If the part is going to finish, confirm the spray is compatible with the coating process and clean the surface before finishing.
For nozzle protection, use a nozzle gel or dip rather than spray. See welding chemicals and markers.
