Tips & Nozzles

The wear parts at the business end of a MIG gun or plasma torch. They are inexpensive individually and expensive collectively, because a worn tip or nozzle costs you in rework long before anyone thinks to change it.

Contact tips

The contact tip transfers current to the wire and controls arc stability. It wears from the inside out - by the time the bore is visibly oval, arc wander and burnback have already been costing you. Size to the wire diameter, and buy a box rather than a pair.

Nozzles

The nozzle directs the shielding gas. Spatter build-up restricts flow gradually and produces porosity that gets blamed on everything except the nozzle. Anti-spatter spray and a nozzle reamer both extend life meaningfully.

Match the whole front end

Tip, diffuser, nozzle and retaining head belong to the same series and are not interchangeable across gun families. If you are ordering replacements for a gun you inherited, send us a photograph or bring the front end in and we will identify the series.
