Gas Diffusers
The gas diffuser sits between the contact tip and the nozzle, distributing shielding gas evenly around the arc and carrying current to the tip. It is the quietest failure point on a MIG gun.
Why diffusers matter more than their price suggests
Diffuser ports block with spatter over time. Gas keeps flowing, the flowmeter keeps reading correctly, and the shielding envelope quietly becomes uneven - producing intermittent porosity that survives every other change you make. Because the diffuser is hidden under the nozzle, it is usually the last part anyone inspects.
The diffuser also carries the electrical path to the contact tip. A diffuser with a degraded thread interface causes heat build-up at the front end and shortens contact tip life measurably.
Ordering correctly
Diffusers are specific to the gun series and to the thread type of the contact tip. They are not interchangeable across manufacturers even where they look identical. If you are unsure of your gun series, bring the front end to the counter or send a photograph and we will match it.
Service interval
Replace the diffuser every few tip changes rather than waiting for symptoms. It is a low-cost part protecting a high-cost gun.
