Karbosan
Karbosan cut-off discs and grinding discs - Cut-Cut Plus and Thin-Line cutting discs in Type 1 and Type 27, and aluminum cut-off discs.
Thin discs cut faster and cooler
A thin cut-off disc removes less metal per cut, so it cuts faster, puts less heat into the part and leaves a smaller burr. That matters on stainless, where heat discolours the metal, and on thin sheet, where heat distorts it. Thicker discs last longer and tolerate side load better.
Type 1 or Type 27
- Type 1 (flat) - the standard for cutting. Gives the deepest cut and works with a cut-off guard.
- Type 27 (depressed centre) - the hub sits below the face, giving clearance for flush cuts close to a surface.
Use aluminum discs on aluminum
Soft aluminum loads a standard steel disc - the metal smears into the abrasive and the disc stops cutting and heats up. Aluminum-specific discs are formulated to resist loading.
Safety rules that are not optional
Never side-grind with a cutting disc. Match the disc RPM rating to the grinder, keep the guard on, and check the disc expiry date - resin-bonded discs degrade with age.

Karbosan also makes grinding discs.
