Tillman

Tillman welding protective clothing - FR7A cotton welding jackets and hood, the FR7A jacket with leather sleeves, 18 inch Kevlar-stitched cowhide sleeves and 25B deerskin TIG gloves.

FR cotton or leather

  • FR cotton - light and cool, for TIG, light MIG and long shifts in warm shops. It handles low spatter and radiant heat.
  • Leather - for stick, flux-cored, heavy MIG and overhead work, where spatter is heavy. Hotter to wear, far more durable.
  • FR cotton with leather sleeves - the combination most welders actually want: leather where the spatter lands, cotton across the body.

Why not ordinary cotton or synthetics

Untreated cotton ignites. Polyester and nylon melt and stick to skin. Flame-resistant cotton is treated to self-extinguish. Do not layer synthetic clothing under FR garments.

25B deerskin TIG gloves

Deerskin stays soft and supple after heat exposure and gives the fingertip feel TIG requires. Unlined gloves give the most control.

Welding hood

The FR7A hood covers the head, neck and shoulders under a helmet - essential for overhead and out-of-position work, where spatter falls behind the helmet.
