Genuine Lincoln Electric Magnum PRO MIG consumables - KP2744 and KP2745 contact tips, aluminum tips, the KP27461 thread-on diffuser and the 2743-1-50R nozzle.
Two tip families - do not mix them
- KP2744 - standard-duty Magnum PRO tips. The T suffix denotes a tapered tip for access into tight joints.
- KP2745 - heavy-duty tips for the 450-550A Magnum PRO guns. More copper mass, so they run cooler under sustained current.
The last digits give the wire size (035, 045 and so on). Match the tip to the wire you run, not the box it came in.
Aluminum tips are oversized on purpose
Aluminum wire expands more with heat than steel. A standard tip grips hot aluminum wire and causes burnback. The AT aluminum tips have a slightly larger bore to let the wire feed freely.
The front end works as a system
Diffuser, tip and nozzle have to match the gun. The KP27461 diffuser threads on and positions the tip; the nozzle sets stick-out and gas coverage. A mismatched front end gives poor gas coverage and porosity.
