Welding Accessories
The parts and hardware that sit between the machine and the weld - cables, connectors, holders, clamps, carts, chemicals and hand tools. Eighty-one lines of the things that are never the reason a machine is bought and are always the reason a shift runs badly.
Where the faults actually live
When a welding setup misbehaves, the machine gets blamed and the machine is almost never at fault. Working outward from the arc, the real order of suspicion is: consumables, then the ground connection, then the cable and its terminations, then the holder or gun, and only then the machine.
- Ground clamps are the single most under-specified part of a welding circuit. A weak spring or corroded jaw puts resistance in series with your arc, and the symptom looks exactly like an underpowered machine.
- Cable and connectors must be sized for both amperage and run length. A gauge adequate at 15 feet is marginal at 50.
- Electrode holders that no longer grip firmly arc internally, run hot and burn rod off at the stub.
The rest of the bench
Chipping hammers, wire brushes, locking clamps, inspection mirrors and angle grinders for slag removal, cleaning, fit-up and finishing. Carts and cylinder storage to get machines and gas off the floor and moving safely. Anti-spatter, pickling paste, cold galvanizing and dye penetrant for the chemistry around the weld.
Keep stainless tooling separate
Carbon steel brushes and abrasives embed iron particles into stainless. Those particles rust in service and read to the customer as a failed weld. Dedicated stainless tooling is cheaper than the rework.
