Harris

Harris brazing alloys, fluxes and solder - Stay-Silv 2% and 15% silver phos-copper alloys, Dynaflow 6% silver rods, Stay-Silv White Flux, bronze brazing flux, 95/5 lead-free solder and Matador welder's pliers.

Phos-copper alloys: self-fluxing on copper only

The phosphorus in Stay-Silv 2%, Dynaflow 6% and Stay-Silv 15% acts as a flux on copper, so copper-to-copper joints need no added flux. Copper to brass or bronze does need flux. Never use phos-copper on steel, stainless or nickel alloys - the phosphorus forms brittle compounds at the joint.

  • Stay-Silv 2% (BCuP-6) - economical choice for close-fitting copper joints in HVAC and plumbing.
  • Dynaflow 6% - more silver, more ductility and better tolerance of joint gaps.
  • Stay-Silv 15% (BCuP-5) - highest ductility of the group; the standard for refrigeration joints that see vibration and thermal cycling.

Silver solder and steel need a real flux

For higher-silver alloys on steel, stainless or dissimilar metals, use Stay-Silv White Flux. It shows temperature as it turns clear and fluid.

95/5 solder

Tin-antimony 95/5 is lead-free and stronger than 50/50 tin-lead. It is the standard choice for potable water lines.
