Abicor Binzel MIG guns and consumables - ABIMIG air- and water-cooled guns, MB Series guns, PPI and PPG push-pull guns, liners, nozzles, diffusers and M6 and M8 contact tips.

Match the tip thread before anything else

Binzel tips come in two threads. M6 tips fit the lighter and mid-range necks; M8 tips fit heavy-duty necks. The two are not interchangeable. Check the thread on the tip you are replacing, then match wire diameter. Heavy-duty M8 tips carry more copper and run cooler in sustained high-amperage work.

Air-cooled or water-cooled

  • Air-cooled guns are simpler and lighter on the job site. Duty cycle drops quickly with mixed gas and high current.
  • Water-cooled guns, such as the ABIMIG W WT440, run longer at high amperage with a lighter handle - they need a cooler.

Aluminum needs the right feed system

Soft aluminum wire buckles in a long steel liner. Fit a dedicated aluminum liner, and for long runs or thin wire use a push-pull gun - the drive motor in the handle pulls wire through the cable instead of pushing it. See push-pull MIG guns.

Keep spatter off the nozzle

Binzel ceramic spray and the cone cap coat the nozzle so spatter does not bond to it. Spatter bridging between nozzle and tip disturbs gas flow and causes porosity.
